Glenda Strauss will present Operation Christmas Child - Shoeboxes for young children at the noon meeting on September 26th and at the morning meeting on October 4th. Learn more about the shoebox project of the Samaritan's Purse at Operation Christmas Child - Shoebox. Club members will be asked to consider an evening shoebox packing event at Safety Starts Here, perhaps Monday October 24th or Wednesday October 26th. National Shoebox Collection Week is November 14 - 20. |

For over 30 years, Special Olympics has been providing Camrose and area year-round top-quality sports options for individuals of any age with an intellectual disability. Athletes have weekly opportunities to stay active, interact with their peers and achieve contentment and success while being a part of the Camrose community. Special Olympics in Camrose promotes participation, sportsmanship and fun, ensuring that cost is never a barrier for individuals to participate. Special Olympics Alberta-Camrose offers ACTIVE START and FUNdamentals to athletes 0-14 years old as well as sports to individuals 14+ in Camrose and surrounding area with an intellectual disability. Our affiliate subsidizes all sports programs to ensure that cost is never a barrier for athletes to participate. Days for Girls in Peru

Liz Rolf and Tammy Graham will be sharing with us their experiences on their trip to Peru to distribute Days For Girls feminine health kits. Liz and Tammy were part of a Canadian contingent of 8 women from all across Canada who brought their Days for Girls kits to be given out to communities throughout Peru. Liz and Tammy describe it as a “trip of a lifetime” and it will be so interesting to hear their stories. Often we give money and merchandise to good causes but don’t get to hear about the results of our donations. This will be an opportunity to connect with people from our Camrose community who have seen those results first-hand!

Unfortunately, we are unable to use the Rotary Youth Centre during weekday daytime hours, so we are left with just Saturdays, because Sundays have been very poorly attended. I have booked the following days for sewing/working on components:
January
7th & 21st - 9am - 3pm
February
4th & 18th - 9am - 3pm
March
4th &18th - 9am - 3pm
The final assembly day will be on April 22nd from 9am - 3pm. There will be no sewing this day, we will be assembling as many kits as we have components for.
I hope some of you can make at least one of these days. You do not have to sew, there are other much-needed tasks that can be undertaken. You also do not need to come for the whole 6 hours. Come for however long your schedule allows.
